General Class Info:
Absences: Please try to have your child attend school each day. Please try to schedule any appointments after school or during vacation time. IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK, PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL. It is very important to keep your child away from school to stop the spread of any virus. Please contact school to let us know your child is going to be out.
Tardies: It is important that your child is on time for school each day. Every minute we spend in school is valuable. When students are late coming to class, it causes a disruption. Children are tardy after 8am.
Agendas: Each child needs a Dana school agenda. Please read and sign your child’s agenda each night. Your child will document their behavior grade each day in the agenda. The agenda can also be used to communicate any notes or comments.
Book Orders: Throughout the year, I will send home monthly book club order forms from Scholastic Books. The book club has some great books at great prices. Each issue usually has a book for $1! It is an excellent opportunity to purchase books for your child and add to their home library. If you wish to order, payments can be made in the form of a check (made payable toScholastic) or cash. Please include your child's name on the order form and return the form and check by the due date.
Change in Transportation: Please send a note or call the office if your child will be going home a different way than is listed on the transportation information sheet.
Communication: Communication is the key to a successful parent-teacher relationship. Should you have any questions or concerns please let me know. The best way is through email, a phone call (685 -7743 ) or in a note with your child. If you would like to schedule a conference with please e-mail me, call or send me a note with some good days.
Early Dismissal:If it becomes necessary for your child to leave school early, he or she must be signed out in the office. Please send a note if you anticipate a need for your child to leave early so that work can be prepared and I can have your child ready for your arrival. Upon arrival, the office staff will call for your child to meet you in the office.
Lunch: Our lunchtime is 12:45-1:10. Please feel free to come and eat lunch with your child. We ask that you do not bring in any outside food such as McDonalds, take out etc. If your need a free/ reduced lunch application form these are available, otherwise you are responsible for paying for your child’s lunch.
Progress Reports and Report Cards: Both report cards and progress reports need to be signed and returned as soon as possible. Please make sure that you go over the report with your child and be sure to praise your child for a job well done.
Breakfast & Snack: All students will receive a FREE universal breakfast every day at 7:40 in the classrooms.  We will not have snack during the day so breakfast is very important. Â
Specials: In order to be prepared for our special classes in art, music, P.E and computer please wear tennis shoes for school every day. We will again have specials on a 4 day rotation. Also, a great place to keep library books is in your child’s book-bag; that way they will always have it.  Specials will be from 9:25-10:15 each day.Â
Volunteers: If you would like to volunteer in our classroom you would be very welcome. Â Please let me know if you are interested.
